A Gentle Reminder…

July 2nd, 2010

Hello to all our wonderful Members! We hope you know how much all of us at Ginseng value your presence here, and that we strive in every way to make your yoga experience joyful & fulfilling. That being said, we just want to gently remind everyone to please be on time for class…we have had many complaints about students arriving late and then disturbing others either with their settling in activities or needing to move mats around to accommodate the late arrivers after class has started. While this is especially a concern in the Green Room, it often causes disruption in the Yellow Room as well.

As we love you all, we ask that all our Members please be conscious & respectful of your fellow yogis. In order to maintain a safe & peaceful space, please do your best to arrive in plenty of time to use the facilities and get settled. (And BTW we understand that once in awhile stuff just happens and we can’t be on time despite our best efforts – but we encourage our Members to make that the exception, not the rule.)

Thank you for your consideration & understanding…

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

May 28th, 2010

Whoo – Hoo! First Holiday of the Summer!!

We hope you all have a safe and glorious weekend – however you want to celebrate… whether out in nature, resting at home – or dancing (or practicing Yoga!) until dawn!!

Our class schedule for Monday, May 31 – Memorial Day:

9:00am – Vinyasa 1-2 with Andrea

10:30am – Harmony Yoga with Rama Deva – (Gentle)

12:00pm – Dynamic Vinyasa with Jano – All Levels, leaning towards 2-3

All Afternoon/Evening Classes Canceled

We also have a few schedule changes that we’d like to share with you…FIRST Jen You’s Wednesday 6:00pm class is cancelled effective immediately due to various upcoming obligations on Jen’s part. Luckily for us all, we still have Jen on our schedule 3 other times during the week so she can continue to spread her peaceful, strong yogi warrior light…

The above change now sets in motion other changes which we think you will like. Laxmi’s 4:30pm Vinyasa class on Wednesdays & Fridays will MOVE to 5:00pm BOTH days & will extend to 90 mins. This change will begin on Friday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 9. ALSO – Bhava’s Wednesday evening 7:30pm Deep Healing classes will move to 7:00pm. This will begin on Wednesday, June 9.

We are excited about the Wednesday/Friday class time changes as our members have expressed their desire for something like this … 4:30pm was a little early for many worker bees and 7:30pm was a little late…!

Have a great Holiday & hope to see you around the studio!

Weekend Workshop Offerings

May 19th, 2010

Greetings to our Incredible Ginseng Community!

Hope everyone is enjoying the long awaited & beautiful Spring weather…I definitely saw some blue skies peeking through yesterday. Maybe finally time to get out the picnic & beach blankets & have some San Diego fun….?!

During a break from playing under the sun & stars this weekend, we invite you to join us for one or both of the 2 AMAZING workshops we are offering.

The first – Soul Circle – is this Friday night (May 21) from 7-9pm with Rama Deva and friends…it will be a fun, rocking event with live drumming, dancing, yoga, musical imagination, chanting, meditation and an abundance of JOY! And the best part is that it is donation based – ALL the monies collected will go directly to a sustainable Eco-Orphanage in India.

The second workshop offering is Healing Low Back Pain with Rachel Krentzman this Sunday (May 23) from 2-4pm. If you suffer at all from back pain – or want to strengthen/learn techniques for your back so that you don’t EVER suffer from back pain – this is a NOT-to-MISS workshop for you! Many of you may remember Rachel, who was a popular teacher here for years….if so, then you know what an incredible teacher she is – compassionate, super knowledgeable & passionately dedicated to the healing process. Besides being an extremely well-trained yoga teacher Rachel is also a Physical Therapist and so brings a lot extra to the table…we are very pleased (and feel very fortunate) to have her back here again! The benefits gained from this workshop will last a lifetime…(And BTW – only a few spaces left – so don’t delay in reserving your spot!)

Whichever workshop calls to you, we hope you will join us this weekend….

Wishing you endless Happiness, Health and Well-being,

Ginseng Staff

Self-Defense Tips

April 30th, 2010

Last Saturday we had a wonderfully energetic & very informative Self –Defense Workshop here at Ginseng. It was taught by Frank McCarroll of Practical Karate, who has been studying Karate for many years.

Ladies of all ages attended – from little ones on up. Frank’s teaching method was very encouraging and empowering for us all… he gave us many practical tips and 3 basic routines that we could use depending on the situation.

Following are the 5 Basic Tips that he wanted us to take away from the Workshop – even if we forgot everything else he taught….and these tips are for EVERYONE! – whether female or male, young or old, strong or weak…

1. If at all possible, RUNAWAY. It is always our primary goal to get away as soon as possible, and/or to avoid a potential encounter.

2. SCREAM. He recommended Stop, No, Help…either while running away or during an encounter.

3. AIM for the EYES. If you can hit the eyes and then run …do. Use extreme force.

4. KICK the Groin. Same as #3.

5. BREAK FINGERS. Same as #3

Again, Frank’s last & maybe most important piece of advice (besides Running Away), is to NEVER GIVE UP!!! He shared many stories in which 100% commitment to getting away saved the day. He also emphasized that the smallest & slightest person has been known to get away/hurt a potential predator by following the above tips.

Final Word …Frank and all of us at Ginseng sincerely hope that no one is ever in a situation where the above tips are needed, and that we all live peaceful, joyful lives!!

Self-Defense Workshop discount

April 23rd, 2010

Hello Everyone!…we just wanted to remind you all that today is the last day to sign-up for the Self-Defense Workshop this Saturday, April 24 at 2:00pm and still get the discount price.

BTW – I’m really looking forward to this workshop and am bringing my daughter. I’m not taking it from a place of fear – nor do I want that for my daughter – but it’s a confidence builder to know that we can take care of ourselves in all situations…and especially empowering for our young girls who are beginning to leave the cozy family nest!

Hope to see you there!

Wishing you Joy & Peace,
